El obelisco mide unos 169 m de altura. Más de 100 más que el obelisco de Buenos Aires (Argentina) de unos 68 m.

The WM is closed until spring 2019. But you can still do a walking tour to see the monuments and museums around the National Mall. If you love history and our country then you won't be disappointed.

Completed in 1884,5 years b4 the Effiel Tower, @555 ft, this was the tallest bldg in the world then. Now it is the tallest structure in Washington DC. Great views all round at the top. Free admission.

Very scenic, probably one of the best spots in DC. Lots of history, and often the center of protests, political movements and activity. Near lots of fun and entertaining things to do.

Absolutely beautiful at night--my fiancé proposed there! Much larger than you'd expect. If you want to go to the top, book tickets ahead!

Go on a clear day. The views from just about every vantage point are amazing. Try to stay close to the elevator doors on the descent as you will get a good view of many of the memorial plaques inside.

Original elevator took 20 minutes to top (versus 70-75 seconds today). Women were not allowed to top. Men were entertained via cheese/wine on ride up. Full site history here
